A Call to Artists has been issued to artists for entry of works related to Lili`uokalani Gardens, “the crown jewel of the Crescent City.”
Printed copies are available at Banyan Gallery on Banyan Drive near the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel and at Cunningham Gallery in Hilo.
Deadline for entry is 5 p.m. Friday, December 14.
For further details, contact Jelena Clay at Banyan Gallery.
Aloha, may I please have more information? What types of works are being submitted? Mahalo, J. Kai Strom
All types of art are possible for entry. Please review the instructions in the Call To Artists for details on the theme, deadlines, etc.
Can it be portraiture as well? Does it just have to be about the gardens?
Is it a portrait of someone in the gardens? Someone related to creation of the gardens? Some historic figure who planted a tree, designed an improvement, etc.?
This is an event related to Lili`uokalani Gardens, which include Rakuen, Isles, Mokuola, and the large tropical Japanese garden some old timers still call Nihon Koen, so the art should relate in some way to this area, the “crown jewel at the entry to the Crescent City.”
