In 2012, this blog began as a way to document a train trip across the continental Unites States to visit Japanese gardens. The purpose was to gather information to assist in the formation of Friends of Lili`uokalani Gardens, a non-profit dedicated to Hilo’s community treasure of a 100+ year Japanese landscape.
As years went by, the blog expanded to cover Japanese gardens in other countries as well as providing news of events and activities in Lili`uokalani Gardens in Hilo Hawaii.
Now all news, events and maps relating to Lili`uokalani Gardens will be in a new website launched this week. https://www.liliuokalanigardens.org is live.

The beautiful design and sensible organization was created by Dayva Keolanui of Keolanui Consulting.
Mahalo for your patience as we migrate Hilo information to the new site and continue to use this blog for visits to other Japanese gardens outside of Japan.
